The Cahergall Stone Fort is one of three accessible stone forts in the Ring of Kerry. We found this one the most impressive and the most fun to walk around in. All three of these forts were built in early A.D. and originally built with no mortar.
Each of these forts are a few miles off from the main Ring of Kerry drive - the first fort, the Staigue fort, is at the beginning of the drive whereas the last two are the last points of interest of the trip. Entrance is voluntary donation - be sure to read the plaques full of history and facts about the circular forts. A must- see for those interested in the older history of Ireland.
