A short 40-minute drive east of Negril, Steven's Aqua Nature Park is a little-known retreat. You can cool off in the clear streams of Venture River--it looks more like a freshwater pool-- flowing through the property and complete with small, colorful fish and a cascade. Owner Steven also delights in giving his guests a walking tour of his family-inherited land, and will teach you quite a bit about the Jamaican plants and fruits he grows, as you pass by horses, pigs and goats. Don't forget to see the giant cotton tree-it's the largest I've seen in the Caribbean. You'll even get some fresh coconut to enjoy along the way. On site is a casual restaurant and bar, playing some Reggae tunes in the background--making this gorgeous and well-kept verdant spot a perfect day-long escape for couples, families or anyone looking for a real taste of Jamaica.
