Located in the St Gilles section of Brussels is a stadium that opened back in 1919 and is now known as Marien Stadium. The "stade" was also used during the 1920 Olympics, which were mostly held in the northern Belgian city of Antwerpen. This art deco style stadium is now a listed building, which will keep the city from tearing it down, as it has many other historic buildings in the past - namely some beautiful art nouveau buildings by Victor Horta.
Today you can visit the stadium, enjoy the excellent food and Belgian traditional beers there, and also catch a soccer game. It is now the home of Union, a 3rd division team.

A rainy game in St Gilles
Belgians love their sports and none more than soccer. In the art deco tribune that is the center piece of the Marien Stadium, you can catch a Union St Gilles soccer team game on every other weekend during the soccer season.
I caught a recent game and enjoyed the atmosphere and the rain.
