This Avenue Monkland extension of the renowned bagel shop on Rue Saint-Viateur not only warms up the Notre-Dame-de Grâce neighborhood (known locally as NDG) with fresh-baked hand-rolled bagels, it also has a proper sit-down restaurant and some knockout brunch options. A top crowd pleaser is the Kit, three eggs scrambled with smoked ham, sausage and bacon, and served with classical baked beans and cretons (pork pâté, Quebec-style). For something that might put a tad less hair on your chest, go for the Smile: a sliced bagel of your choice with a fried egg in each hole, and served with all the meats and baked beans. The good news is that they serve breakfast every day of the week, unlike most of the restaurants listed here.
