You can find this gem of a WW2 Liberty Ship docked at Pier 45 in the Fisherman Wharf neighborhood. You'll have to make your way through the crowds of visitors and many a seagull being fed a french fry, but if anyone you're traveling with thinks like an engineer or loves their wartime history- the SS Jeremiah will be a hit!
If you're looking for a special event location, this could be the spot. I'd gone with friends to a memorial service that my university does each year (Aggie Muster) and we were able to explore the ship, see the museum, have a catered BBQ lunch and enjoy plenty of space for a gathering of just over a hundred people.
Right next to the SS Jeremiah O'Brien, you'll also find the USS Pampanito (SS-383). It is a World War II Balao class Fleet submarine museum that is open for visitors daily and is also available for special events.
The special part of the visits will be the conversations that you'll have with the gentlemen that volunteer or work on board, that are all retired veterans.
Soak up some history and some sun on your next trip to San Francisco.
