Marriott just opened their 3,000th (!!) global 'select service' property, and this one's quite the stunner. Located in the up and coming North Embarcadero area, it has spectacular views of the San Diego Bay. It is a perfect, no fuss place to land for a few days.
The suites are well designed and quite a bit more spacious than regular hotel rooms. Pull-out sofas can accommodate extra family members or friends. A Queen/Double Suite can comfortably sleep up to six people. Best of all—the hotel is just minutes away from Balboa Park, historic Gaslamp District, Seaport Village and other amazing attractions.
Little Italy, only 10 minutes away by foot, is one of my new favorite neighborhoods of San Diego. It has great food options [http://www.afar.com/places/underbelly-san-diego] and a huge Farmer's market on Saturday [http://www.afar.com/places/farmers-market-little-italy-san-diego], perfect for people watching and breakfast on the go.
>>>A big thank you to Marriott’s recently opened SpringHill Suites San Diego Downtown/Bayfront (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sandh-springhill-suites-san-diego-downtown-bayfront) for accommodations.
