Lancaster, PA is primarily known for the Amish, but it really should be known for booze. The city and its surrounding countryside has more than a few microbreweries, wineries, and distilleries.
My favorite is The Springhouse Taproom located on King St, in the heart of downtown Lancaster. It's my favorite place to start on a night out.
Like any good taproom, you're given the chance to sample beer before you taste it or could purchase a sampler, pictured above. At Springhouse, the menu is always changing and they come up with some pretty whacky beer flavors. My mainstay is their chocolate peanut butter stout, which was the catalyst for me starting to like dark brews. When it's in season, they might have the best pumpkin beer I've ever had.
They also get points for having the only decent shuffleboard in Lancaster.
