San Francisco is one of the best dining cities in the world - so deciding where to dine when visiting is no easy feat. This small, dimly lit restaurant emanates comfort and warmth while maintaining a modern feel. My guest and I ordered eight dishes to be brought out as individual courses, and each dish was beautifully composed and delicious. Our server (a fellow sommelier) guided us with ease through each course with an esoteric selection of wine pairings, such as a juicy, strawberry-laden Rosé of Nero d'Avola from Sicily and an earthy, bright Nebbiolo from Gattinara. One of my favorite dishes was a fresh fettuccine with smoky bacon, uni and a quail egg to garnish. Fantastic.
In the San Francisco tradition, don't forget to have a digestivo (or three) at the end of your meal. Buon Appetito!
