Visiting the 'White Queen', Split Point Lighthouse
There are dozens of small towns situated on the Great Ocean Road - some with just one main road, a general store and a petrol station. Most people dismiss them and drive straight through, but in each of these towns there is at least one hidden treasure.
In Aireys Inlet it is Split Point Lighthouse.
Since 2005, the Split Point Lighthouse has been offering 30 minute guided tours, during which visitors have the chance to climb the original staircase and experience the view from the balcony just below the lantern room. Bookings are recommended.
After the climb take one of the short hikes - you'll only need 15 or 20minutes - down along the cliff tops before heading to to Willows Tea House. Located conveniently next to the lighthouse Willows Tea House has delicious brunches, warm beverages, home-made cakes, muffins and scones (including gluten free options) and in winter a cosy fire!
