The Spa at Eastman, located in the eastern townships of Quebec, is just a two-hour drive from Burlington, Vermont. It is a beautiful 326-acre destination spa in the heart of the rich green countryside.
The spa has 46 very well appointed rooms and features heated outdoor pools of varying temperatures and heated concrete pathways, so you can go barefoot even in the throes of winter, as I did. I thought that this was a brilliant idea. Be sure to keep an eye out for the local cat that enjoys the heated walkways too.
Inside the spa are two saunas—Finnish and infrared—a steam bath, polar bath, indoor pool, and a gym. On a large flat-screen television near the lobby, you can see what classes and activities are scheduled for the day, and the week.
Dinner at the spa was a wonderful experience. Don't expect the normal spa fare here. The menu has duck, chicken, and fish, and, yes, local organic wines are on the menu too. We enjoyed a very nice, gently-oaked Chardonnay. Whenever available, the food is locally sourced and organic. In the summer the spa's own garden supplies the restaurant with herbs, vegetables, fruits, and berries. From delicious organic gourmet dining to curative meals, the Spa at Eastman covers all of the bases in a very elegant and inviting way. Be sure to visit the website for current packages and specials.
