Easily visible from the North Pole, the lights of South Philadelphia’s “miracle on 13th street” are a holiday display not to be missed. No advertisements, no brand names hawking discounted goods, just lights, and lots of them. The block-long, homegrown display of Christmas lights, blow up Santas, mechanized reindeer, sleds and oh-so-much cheer is consistently listed by national media as one of the top spots in the country to see Christmas displays. The place is simply littered with lights.
Tip: After the light display, stop in for a drink or a hearty Italian meal at Victor Cafe on 13th and Dickinson, where a multi-talented waitstaff serenades you with arias and operatic favorites. It’s south Philly at its finest.
