African Bush Camps, which launched in 2006 (politically and economically challenging times), now has eight locations in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Its first tented camp, Somalisa, will reopen in 2016 after an upgrade. “We’ve had to move with the times and travelers’ heightened expectations in the bush,” says founder and CEO Beks Ndlovu. “The new Somalisa, while still tented, delivers the authenticity of camping with the addition of king-size beds, copper-clad slipper baths, fireplaces, and other creature comforts.”
