Its hard to believe you're this close to the ocean. The road sways back and forth from tree to tree. You park along the Oregon Coast Highway, not quite sure what you'll find. But with this much parking, it must be worth the hike. The trees are magnificent. Everywhere you look is moss and fern. Rain forest? Definitely. This is what brought you to the Pacific Northwest in the first place. Then step by step, you start hearing the water in the background. Far away at first, but slowly picking up speed. You seem to sense what's waiting and walk a little faster along the path. Then all at once it opens up, and you find one of the most beautiful white sand beaches. You take in the surfers off in the distance enjoying their surroundings. And as you make your way down onto the beach, a small waterfall appears to one side. Of course you have to hike to it. Of course you have to enjoy the tide pools. Its not like one of the busy beaches in the sunspots of the world. This is a place where you can sit back and contemplate life.
