A Craft Beer List (and Culture) That's Anything But Small
Chicago hasn’t fooled around when it comes to sipping and supporting craft beers from its many nearby breweries, and there’s no shortage of bars serving them. So to instantly get mentioned, as Wicker Park’s SmallBar always does, when locals list Chicago’s best beer bars takes something pretty special.
SmallBar’s rotating draft selection and its schedule of beer events (partnerships and pairings with breweries like Three Floyds, Half Acre and Solemn Oath) are both stellar. The place is a mecca for craft beer nuts, from in and out of town. What makes it popular with everyone else, though, is everything else—the staff, the food (locally-sourced shareable plates, sandwiches, burgers and entrees), the atmosphere and the location.
Come before a night out in the vibrant Wicker Park neighborhood. Come year-round (the inside is inviting anytime, but the patio is a Division Street favorite). And if your schedule allows, definitely come for a US national team soccer match to see SmallBar at its most friendly, festive and nervously thirsty.
