Many claim that St. Martin is the Caribbean’s foodie central. And while some of the most refined expressions of French Caribbean Creole food can be found along the island’s restaurant row in Grand Case, the more down-home version is a little farther afield. At Sky’s the Limit Lolo—a lolo is an open-air barbecue stand—picnic tables and grills replace the fine linens and tucked-away kitchens of Grand Case. The food, however, is Creole through and through. Expect plates piled high with chile-spiked shrimp, barbecued chicken, or grilled fish plus sides like mac ’n’ cheese, rice and beans, potato salad, and coleslaw.
