It's hard to focus on an ocean view when your feet are dangling above a valley.
Then again, it's hard to be scared about the valley below when you have the beautiful ocean to distract you.
More than just another Maui activity, Skyline Eco-Adventures was the first zip line company to operate in the United States. Opened in 2002 on the slopes of Haleakala volcano, the company expanded in 2007 to the mountains above Kaʽanapali.
While the white-knuckle moments on this eight-line course are reason enough to visit, the hidden draw of the zip line tour is the panoramic view of the shoreline.
Here, high above the resorts of Kaʽanapali on the slopes of Mauna Kahalawai (often referred to as the "West Maui Mountains"), customers are treated to views, which stretch out to Lanaʽi and neighboring Molokaʽi.
More than just an adventurous thrill, Skyline Eco-Adventures is also a leader in sustainable and environmental tourism. Staff members take time to educate visitors on the island's native plant species, and they dedicate 1% of their total sales toward "1% For the Planet."
Tours depart seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and all participants must weigh in the range of 80-260 lbs. The minimum age is 10 years old, and remember to bring closed- toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
