My favorite beach in the Northeast is named for the way the sand squeaks underfoot. The quintessential New England seaside town of Manchester-by-the-Sea feels straight out of the 1950s and lightyears away from nearby Boston. Catch the train if possible as parking can be quite expensive. A post-swim stop at Captain Dusty's for ice cream is a local favorite.

Beaches Within Easy Reach
Boston boasts some of the best beaches around, many within easy reach. Revere, Carson and Boston's Harbor Islands have public transportation to get you there. A trip to Castle Island can get you a meal and a walk along the water all before your lunch hour is over. Singing Beach can be reached by MBTA and others within an hours drive are well worth the effort. Some are calm, with lake like water and other will have waves for surfers. Whatever you're looking for, the many choices of sand and shoreline with easy access to the ocean are one of the many things you'll love about the city.
