When visiting Córdoba, it is essential to wind your way through the narrow streets in the old Jewish district. You really get a sense of going back in time. Perhaps the most important structure in the area is the old synagogue. For one, the architecture inside the small prayer room is stunning, fashioned in the Moorish style while integrating Hebrew scripture into the design. More importantly, it's one of only three ancient synagogues still intact in Spain as all of the rest were destroyed when the Christians took power and forced the Jews to convert or face exile.
