You would never guess you were this far from the ocean if you didn't already know better. This is one of those places where, though usually crowded, you can look out across the broad extension of soft sand, past the long pier with a lovely lighthouse at it's end, and over the vast expanse of rolling blue waves while imagining there is nothing more on the other side of the horizon. It's not the ocean though, rather, a non-salty version known as Lake Michigan. This particular oasis is found at Silver Beach in Saint Joseph's, Michigan. Catch a train and stop right next to the pizza place at the beach, while grabbing some of this well-known delicious round gold for dinner. Grab the grub to go though, and opt for a picnic table on the beech in front of the sun's beautiful decent.
