Discover 7,500 Year Old Cave Paintings
Tucked in the Sierra de San Francisco mountains, lie cave paintings that are over 7,500 years old and were declared in 1993 a Cultural World Heritage site. The paintings have been preserved with surprising clarity, as you can easily make out humans, panthers and other animals. Of course, the paintings come alive with proper translation; its best to take a guided trip so you know what you're looking at. Aventuras Mexico Profundo helped interpret the significance and meanings of the paintings, and then we continued on our journey and stopped to enjoy an indigenous lunch with Rancheros in the region: a meal of homemade tortillas, stuffed with beans, shredded meat, and goat cheese homemade from the goats on the ranch.
