A grand dame of midcentury South Beach has been reborn. In a massive reboot last fall, all 200 rooms were done up in geometric rugs and curvy leather headboards. The design pays homage to 1940s and 1950s glamour (as do the uniforms, by Hollywood costume designer Carol Ramsey). A restaurant by star chef Masaharu Morimoto and a retro lounge helmed by New York City mixologist Albert Trummer are already attracting discerning foodies. From $449.
