As one of the most wired cities on the planet, Seoul is no stranger to pushing the envelope for telecommunications technology. Visitors to the exciting exhibition center SK T.um, shorthand for SK Telecom (Korea’s IT giant) and “museum,” can immerse themselves in applications and technology of the not-so-distant future (think self-driving cars, avatars for shopping, and interactive living rooms). The tour, guided by a customized smartphone called a T.key that is provided to each visitor, includes stops at zones called Play Basic (a survey of Korea’s mobile communications up until now), Play Dream (a peek into and demonstrations of future applications), and the Real GXG (interactive gaming as you’ve never seen it before). Admission is free but advance reservations are required (SK T-Tower, 11 Euljiro 2-ga, Jung-gu).
