The traditional curves of the sloping roofs and intricate patterns adorning doors and gates are the benchmarks of Bukchon Hanok Village in central Seoul.
Set on a gently rising slope with views of the modern metropolis in the distance, the historical village seems a glaring anachronism. Here, the architecture hasn’t changed much since the Joseon Dynasty, making the area a popular filming location for many of Korea’s historic movies and TV shows.
Walk the winding alleys and peek into old Korea as you participate in tea ceremonies, dine in traditional restaurants, or try your hand at calligraphy or knot tying.
To get there, use Anguk Subway Station, exit 2.
