The Small Bars of Melbourne
Melbourne is leading the way in Australia with a host of pop-up or themed small bars. Summer favourite, Ponyfish Island, is a quirky little bar found under the Southgate Pedestrian Bridge in the middle of the Yarra River. Located on one of the cities lesser-known laneways, Double Happiness is a popular haunt for those who love a bit of Asian kitsch. Try their cocktails and bubble teas, all with Chinese Cultural Revolution names. In a disused car park in Chinatown is home to a makeshift bar crafted from a shipping container and pallets for seating aptly known as Section 8. There’s a limited drink list but it’s the relaxed no-fuss attitude you come for.

Outdoor Container Bar
Section 8 is a fun, casual place to hang out outside and have some cocktails. It's partially covered, and has some heaters too. We were here on a beautiful summer day and had a great time.
