Not-so-sleepless in Seattle
Eat: Via Tribunale (3 locations - Queen Anne, Capital Hill, Georgetown) for hand tossed, authentic pizza; Macrina Bakery (Belltown, SODO, Queen Anne) for yummy baked goods and delish salads; Cafe Flora (Madison Park) for the best vegetarian fare ever.
Stay: Magpie on Alki (private VRBO 3-bdrm rental right on the water); Four Seasons, new location and spectacularly worth the money; Westin...the first and original, twin "corn cob" towers in the heart of downtown.
Shop: Paper Delights (Wallingford) is outstanding for all things paper and cute; Watson Kennedy (Pike Place Market) to lose an hour or three, assuming you cannot resist the Market; REI (flagship downtown) for the full outdoor experience like no other.
Drink: Purple Cafe (Downtown) for the greatest selection of wine; Cactus (Alki) for the best margarita from scratch; Hale's Ales (Fremont) for authentic micro brews.
Do: Drive or bus it up to Kerry Park (Queen Anne) for a million dollar view, just like Frasier's; Visit the Chittenden Locks and Salmon Ladder (Ballard), watch as salmon return for spawning and see a miniature version of the same locks used in Panama; Grab a coffee and walk along Alki Beach (West Seattle) to satisfy the senses - see the stunning mountain and city views, hear the waves crash, taste the salty air, feel the sand under your feet, smell the clean sea air.
