I shouldn’t be telling anyone about Sazon; this is a place so special, I’d almost rather keep it a secret. But it wouldn’t be fair to stop others from discovering why I love this restaurant: the hot chocolate and home style cuisine.
First, their natural, rich hot chocolate is the best I’ve ever tasted. Thick, pure, and blended with complementary flavors, this drink brings you close to an out of body experience. Their hot chocolate blend called El Azteca is made with pure Mexican cacao infused with 5 chili peppers, blue corn, agave, achiote and cinnamon. Calabaza King is created with chocolate, fresh pumpkin, pecan, nutmeg, cardamom, and cinnamon then topped with pumpkin cream. They feature a full menu of drinking chocolate selections.
Second, Sazon serves home style Venezuelan cuisine: empanadas and arepas (authentic corn flour patties) made fresh daily. Their extensive menu includes many vegetarian options as well. Sazon serves dinner six days a week as well as an outstanding weekend brunch.
And finally, for those still undecided, did I mention that they also make hand crafted truffles?
Sazon is BYOB, and open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner. On Saturdays they host a gluten-free brunch buffet from 11-2, and on Sundays there is an amazing brunch menu from 11-3.
