Surrounded by a Rainbow of Silk in Mumbai's Markets
We walked from the light into what felt like an underground world of silk and chiffon, where Indian shopkeepers sat on raised platform beds and beckoned us to discover their unique worlds of color. There is sari shop after sari shop, no two alike, each with hundreds or thousands of beautiful fabric to choose from. After choosing a store, we took off our shoes sat up on the bed while the shopkeeper opened and spread out fabric after fabric, working to find the perfect texture and pattern of our liking. It is a vibrant, overwhelming and beautiful experience. If you know a local in India, I would recommend asking them to take you and help to navigate through this world of color.
