Religious and Classical Art in the Heart of Downtown
Bob Jones University has one of the largest collections of religious art in the U.S., but you don't need to leave downtown Greenville to enjoy the museum's collection. The Museum & Gallery at Heritage Green houses a rotating selection of the University's collection as well as maintaining a regular schedule of exhibitions. Past exhibits have included a glimpse into Imperial Russia and the House of Fabergé while the current show takes visitors to Dickens-era England. As an educational center, M&G goes to great lengths to offer something for adults and children alike. The kids even have their own room, activities, and cartoon guides: Artemus & Artemisia.
(The building itself holds a place in Greenville's history. Previously a Coca-Cola bottling plant the structure was close to demolition when an effort from the community saved it and paved the way for its new function as a center of art and education.)
