One of the best ways to schedule a quick walk through venice is to use churches as goal posts. A walk from the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute to the Chiesa di San Sebastiano is one of my favorites because it all happens in the Dorsoduro neighbourhood, and takes less than an hour to complete. Begin at Santa Maria della Salute, and walk along the Fondamenta Salute. At the point of the island you will pass the contemporary art museum, Punta della Dogana. Here, Fondamenta Salute becomes the Fondamenta Zattere Ai Saloni. Follow this to the end. This leg of the journey is outstanding, with amazing views of the Giudecca, lots of sunshine (unless you prefer strolling at night), and lively coffee shops, restaurants and bars. Turn right onto the Fondamenta San Basilio. Follow this quiet stretch along the canal and look for the square, stout church of San Sebastiano on your left.
