Sannai Maruyama Ruins

Uncovered during the initial stages of construction for a new baseball stadium, this archaeological site dates back to 3900 B.C.E. and includes evidence of a human transition from hunter-gatherers to a more settled lifestyle. The earliest elements are pits dug to store food, which indicate a camp that was probably seasonal and temporary, but later storage was built aboveground and residential structures appeared.
