Compared to market's in more tourist-filled areas of Thailand, this one is very different.
Mainly selling fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish (very fresh as most are still moving after being fished out of the river that morning!), the market is well-worth a wander round. Situated in the centre of Sangkhlaburi, opposite 7Eleven, it gives a real feel of life for people in rural Thailand. The market feels like the central part of the community; there are children playing in the gaps between the stalls and families are eating together, all while selling their produce.
To get to Sangkhlaburi: coaches run from Mo Chit in Bangkok twice a day, or mini buses more frequently from Victory Monument, with a change at Kanchanaburi.
