Explore a Quaint Nature Center Right Next to Delray Beach
Sandoway House Nature Center is located on the west side of A1A adjacent to Delray Beach's main beach. This quaint old house has been turned into a nature center that is perfect for all ages. Come face to face with a baby alligator, meet the parrot, or watch the turtles in their small exhibits. There are some hands-on exhibits designed to pique kids' interest in nature, such as a room full of microscopes that allows kids to take a closer look at bugs, scales, and more! Upstairs is an overwhelming shell collection that was donated to the nature center by lifetime shell collectors. Here, there are also hands-on opportunities for kids and adults to feel different types of shells and more. Outside, there is a small pool with nurse sharks, and a tank with sting rays that you can pet. The nurse sharks are all rescued from local people and businesses who could no longer care for them. Sandoway House Nature Center is a cute experience, and is a great way to take a respite from the hot summer heat.
