Climbing an 18,000 foot volcano in Northern Chile
The northern parts of Chile, just outside of San Pedro de Atacama, offer adventure travel I had never yet heard of before. Not ever seeing anything like this dry South American desert, every minute had me in awe. At the base of this 18,000+ foot volcano we were able to catch this magnificent reflection before driving up to the 15,000 foot mark to trek the rest of the dusty way to the smoldering crater's edge. This proved to be an unexpected, unique, early morning altitude experience in Chile without taking the 2 week trip up the face of Aconcagua.
