San Marco Museum
One of the most important artists of the 15th century, Fra Angelico lived and worked in this ex-convent between 1436 and 1447. Today the museum houses a superb collection of his ethereal paintings and frescoes, including one of his most famous images, the celebrated Annunciation, which greets you from the top of the first-floor stairs. His great Last Judgment altarpiece hangs in the Pilgrim’s Hospice.
