While Nicaragua’s local beers, Toña and Victoria, are light and refreshing choices for a hot day on the beach, tasting the local craft beer is just part of the experience of traveling to a new city. When the San Juan del Sur Cervecería’s founders, Matt Greenberg, Brendan DuBlois, and Bobby Hottensen, first visited San Juan del Sur, they noticed that unlike Costa Rica, there weren’t any craft beer brands to be found. After returning to the U.S., the beer lovers came up with a business plan to bring their own brand of craft beer to San Juan del Sur. Four years later, the Cervecería has become a hot spot in the resort town, serving 9 types of craft beer, along with a mix of local and American cuisine. Open Mondays and Wednesdays-Sundays, visitors can enjoy lunch and dinner everyday and brunch on weekends.
