San Francisco Columbarium
Most locals do not know about this! Very hidden in the Richmond District, The Columbariun was built in 1897 to house the ashes of the dead. The building was mostly abandoned until 1979. It is now open to the public and you can also sign up for an official tour. Here you will find many urns dating back to the late 1800's resting inside glass cases. Not only will you see the actual urns but also small picture frames, keepsakes, and sometimes locks of hair. If you can get pass the eeriness and stillness, you will discover San Francisco history at it's best!
