San Diego Wine Country

Napa and Sonoma are more famous for their wine production, but San Diego’s wineries offer more variety, since climate and soil conditions allow for more than 60 types of grape to grow, and the region has been influenced by German, French and Italian immigrants. Touring the vineyards is especially delightful, since there’s no mega-industry here; San Diego is known for its small, family-owned establishments. The San Diego County Vintners Association gives advice, organizes day trips and holds events for wineries around the county.
