During my last trip to France, I think it is fair to say that I ate an average of two to three chocolate croissants, and drank at least one steaming pot of tea each and every morning. The warming ability of freshly cooked croissants, and perfect steeped tea made every morning magical.
The very first destination that I enjoyed one of the French delicacies was in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, at a cafe directly opposite the château bearing the same name.
It was the last croissant, as we arrived rather late in the afternoon, but it was my first.
And it was incredible.
I recommend investing in at least one chocolate croissant in every bakery or restaurant in France--you really can not go wrong. Ever.
Oh! And don't forget the piping tea to accompany it! You really can't go wrong with that either.
