For only $1.25, you can take a ride back in time on the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar, the oldest continuously operating streetcar in the world. The mahogany seats and brass fittings speak to the long history of this New Orleans treasure.
“This is one of the most special experiences in New Orleans,” Ben says. “It’s truly unique. When I hear the streetcar bells ringing and the wheels clacking on the tracks, it reminds me of my childhood—I often rode the streetcar with my father. It’s timeless. The stately houses and mansions along the route have been part of New Orleans’ story for centuries.”
Note: The St. Charles Streetcar line will be under preventative maintenance construction through September 5, 2015. The latest updates can be found on the RTA website.
