Hidden in a tiny alleyway behind the favored restaurants of Sultanahmet is the only late-night venue in the tourism precinct—Şah Bar (pronounced Shah Bar).
After a long day sightseeing and with a belly full of fabulous cuisine, many international visitors come to Şah Bar to relax with a beer or wine in hand, or to dance the night away. Those who haven’t tried the fruity nargile (waterpipe or sheisha) can also savor its aroma and taste (try rose and mint or apple and mint).
A DJ will keep the crowd dancing till late with the latest western hits, making it a groovy little late-night oasis close to most travelers' hotels. In winter, the roaring fireplace indoors will defrost the evening chill and keep everyone snug for hours.
To get there, walk downhill from the Sultanahmet tram station and take your first left (Ticarethane Sokak/Street). Walk 10 meters up the road and turn right (where Mozaik Restaurant is) onto İncili Çavuş (alleyway). You’ll see Şah Bar on the left, just past Mozaik Restaurant.
