Rue St. John Perse

This pedestrian street owes its name to the French poet-diplomat Saint-John Perse, born in Pointe-à-Pitre in 1887 and awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature in 1960. Shops along the street sell items like madras, jewelry and keepsakes; even better is the abundance of café tables that invite you to relax and linger awhile.
