The Prettiest Little Cemetery You Ever Did See
About a mile uphill from the parking lot in Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve lies Rose Hill Cemetery. This peaceful resting ground served several coal mining communities during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Little to nothing of the mining towns remain; but the concentration of headstones and a few trees in these lonely hills an hour west of San Francisco remind hikers of industry and lives that can now only be imagined.
