Rizal Park provides a nice breath of fresh air in the very bustling megacity of Manila. Many/most/all? cities in the Philippines have at least one park, monument, etc. in memory of national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The park was designed by Chicago architect Daniel Burnham in 1905 when he did a plan for the city at the request of Governor General William H. Taft, after the US had taken possession of the Philippines in the Spanish-American War.
