I came to Riffle NW, located in the Pearl District, more for their buzzed-about cocktails (their bar director Brandon Josie has worked all over San Francisco including Bourbon and Branch) than their food. That said, I had a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich as a late-night snack and it reminded me of home. When I come back to Portland, I’ll definitely be trying their seafood menu. I drank a Riffle Collins – gin lime, celery, absinthe and salt. This drink was such a refreshing change from the standard gin concoctions of mint, tonic and cucumber. You definitely taste the celery in this one. I also had the Freudian Slip–vodka, lime, watermelon and aperol. I dare you not to indulge under the nautical settings.
