The city of a thousand minarets, Cairo, is a city in which any and all visitors must stay awake all night long. This picture was taken during sunrise after working on a term paper, but most Cairenes and Expats stay awake until the wee hours of the morning because life is just that interesting and camaraderie just that important to Egyptian culture. The thousands of years of historical architecture are simply a backdrop to an exciting modern life.
The weather is suitable for good photography until the late fall so visit Egypt during the off-season when fewer crowds allow an intimacy impossible during the summer. If you have the opportunity to live, work, or study in the land of the Pharaohs, do it.
