Old Bazar is located in the center of Skopje on the left side of the river Vardar. The Old Bazaar is the largest bazaar in the Balkans (outside Istanbul). It’s from the 12th century, and under the Ottomans Empire it reached its peak.
Today is protected national landmark. Situated in the heart of Skopje’s Old Bazaar are a lot of restaurants. When the weather is good and also for the weekends I love to go for lunch. It is tradition for people from Skopje to visit the restaurant and to eat kebabs. You must try it.
I like to order “desetka so kromid”, it is 10 kebabs with onion aside and specially made bread called “lepinja”. The drink with this dish is beer – I love Skopsko beer. The restaurants serve all kinds of barbecue.
There is no need for a reservation; you can go for lunch or dinner. The look of the restaurants is old and traditional, but don’t worry about hygiene – the food is pure poetry.
