While many people may think of dining in Tenerife as consisting of British pubs offering all-day breakfasts for 2 Euros, there are some spectacular restaurants as well. Torre del Mirador is in a spectacular location with a panoramic sea view; even if the food was terrible it would be a great spot for a drink. But missing the food here would be a crime; authentic Canarian specialties are prepared exquisitely. My mouth is watering at the memory of the Padron Peppers; simply sautéed in olive oil and sea salt, but cooked to such perfection with a crispy skin and tender flesh... The gazpacho is also a must-try, and be sure to get the Papas Arrugadas (tiny wrinkled potatoes cooked in sea water) served with 3 incredible sauces - no other restaurant in the islands matched their mastery of these Canarian specialties.
