I knew nothing of Singapore before I arrived. With just 24 hours to explore this new city before I left on the Azamara Club Cruises Quest, bound for Thailand and Bali, I knew I needed a good home base to explore from, and to catch up on sleep after my long trip from New York City. Singapore is known as the Garden City, and it's obvious why: there are flowers, plants trees everywhere. An orchid plant, some delectable little desserts and a plush bed greeted me at The Regent. The hotel is conveniently located downtown, so I set off to explore Orchard Street, one of Singapore's most popular streets, filled with shopping, overhanging trees and sculptures. The Ion Sky downtown is a high rise building with a 360 glassed-in view of the city, from its 55th and 56th floors. With free admission, you can go up to explore, or to stay and dine, before heading out in Singapore for some nightlife, or returning to The Regent to enjoy its Manhattan Bar's craft cocktails.
