Red Beach, located near the ancient village of Akrotiri, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Santorini. Massive red and black volcanic cliffs rise above the water. The water is crisp and cold, a clear shade of green-blue.
The beach is very pebbly with no shade, so you'll probably want to rent a chair and umbrella and bring water shoes. Best for adults, not families with small children. If you drive, you can park in a lot at the top of the cliff and walk down to the beach. A stop at Red Beach is also accessible on many daily boat excursions. It's not the easiest beach to get to, and it's not the most comfortable, but it is a sight to see.
