Re:START Mall
Like the Cardboard Cathedral, the Re:START shopping mall has become a symbol of Christchurch's rebirth following the 2011 earthquake. Made up of dozens of shipping containers, the mall features retailers that sell goods ranging from books to New Zealand merino wool to crisp dress shirts. Shop for a bit of Kiwiana, such as a tiki pillow at HAPA or a locally crafted gift at the General Store; grab a bite to eat from BASE Woodfired Pizza or the Red Burger cart; and watch street performers and buskers at this 21st-century village square. The Quake City exhibit and i-SITE tourist-information book are also found here.

Walk around in Re:START Mall
After the earthquake, Re:START Mall was the first place where retail activity began. There are cafes, stores and restaurants housed in these brightly colored shipping containers.
